7-8 November 2024
BALTIC HERNIA DAYS
It is with great anticipation that we extend an invitation to you to join us in the historical city of Gdansk, long hailed as the ‘Polish gate to the world’. We are excited to host the inaugural "Baltic Hernia Days" in the European Solidarity Center, set to take place on the 7-8 November 2024.

Gdansk, with its rich tapestry of history and culture, provides not just a backdrop but a context to our gathering. This time, our focus will be broader, extending our reach to our fellow surgeons from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark and Norway. This regional collaboration emphasizes our collective vision for shared knowledge, medical advancements, and camaraderie in the field of herniology.
In light of recent events and the challenging circumstances our colleagues in Ukraine are facing, we are especially keen to extend our invitation to them. Their resilience, expertise, and contributions are invaluable, and their presence will surely enrich our congress.

The "Baltic Hernia Days" aims to foster both scientific and social exchange. We'll have dedicated sessions to the latest research in herniology, share advancements in surgical techniques, and discuss collaborative projects for the benefit of our patients and our professional community. Furthermore, we intend to forge stronger ties, not only among surgeons but with companies working in the herniology field. This collaboration offers an avenue for knowledge sharing, highlighting innovations in implants and surgical techniques that can enhance our daily practice.

But a congress is not just about presentations and discussions. We believe in the power of personal connections. Gdansk, with its storied past and vibrant present, offers an exceptional venue for such interactions.

The European Solidarity Center is strategically located in the heart of the city. Our chosen hotels and the transportation facilities ensure convenience for our attendees. We also extend an invitation for evening events at the city's historical landmarks, including the famous Gdansk Shipyard – where the Solidarity movement originated.
In these collaborative efforts, we hope to build bridges and nurture relationships that stand the test of time. The "Baltic Hernia Days" promises to be a milestone event, and your participation will surely make it even more memorable.
We eagerly await your presence in Gdansk in November 2024!

Warm regards,

Maciej Smietanski
Mateusz Zamkowski

Touring the ECS
The permanent exhibition, devoted to the history of Solidarność and to changes that it triggered in Central and Eastern Europe, occupies the main part of the ECS building. It takes up nearly 3,000 square meters of space in the 1st and the 2nd floor. It is divided into seven rooms. Visitors spend approximately 2 hours there. The state-of-the-art exhibition is narrative in character – it immerses the visitor in history told by archival exhibits, documents, manuscripts, photographs, video presentations, and interactive installations. Every visitor is encouraged to make their own references both to history and to our contemporary times. The multitude of narrations allows multiple subsequent visits – each being a uniquely new experience.
